About Paediatric Physiotherapy

Blackburn North Physiotherapy Centre now has a physiotherapist dedicated and experienced in working with Children from babies up until adolescence.

There is no need for a doctor’s referral to book in.

What is special about a Paediatric Physiotherapist?

Our paediatric physiotherapist has expertise and training to treat babies through to adolescents, providing thorough assessment and development of an individual programme to suit your child’s needs. We believe in family centred practice and place great importance and value on the opinions and needs of the whole family. If required they will work also in partnership with your school or other health professionals to meet your child’s needs.

What to expect on your first visit

The Physiotherapist will assess and provide treatment to your child, including an individual programme that will assist the child and their family. A programme may involve the use of activities to increase strength, balance, co-ordination, and function. If appropriate, games, toys, or other special equipment may be used.

More than just treatment

We believe that education is also a key to helping recovery. Firstly we will involve you in managing and assisting your child’s development and injuries by advising ways of handling and playing with your child. In some cases, we can also give advice on equipment to help function and healing. You will also be assisted in understanding the condition your child is experiencing, and how to assist them in everyday tasks, sports and other activities.
